toaster. Then have him spread pizza sauce on the muffin
and sprinkle on the cheese. Encourage your child to add
their favorite veggies on top of the muffin. Place muffins
on a pan in the oven and set it to Broil. Cook until cheese

• Empty Paper towel or toilet paper roll
• Glue
• Pieces of cut up tissue paper, stickers, colorful
foam pieces, buttons.
• Warning some of the above materials may be
choking hazards.
What to do:
1. Take used roll and allow kids to cover with
glue. Use any of the above materials to stick
onto the glue covered roll. Let dry. Use to hunt
for pirates, search for stars or anything else their
imaginations can come up with. Great way to

*Check your local library for storytelling and
other free activities for kids.
*Visit your neighborhood Parks and
Recreations Department to find in-expensive
classes for you and your child to take
together.
*Visit a pet store. They are often set up like
mini zoos. Some have glass windows that
allow the shoppers to watch the animals
being groomed and some even have play
rooms with dogs and cats jumping around.
It's a fun free way to expose your child to
animals and their proper care.
Mom Tip
The Grass is always greener
As a busy mom it's often difficult to figure out
how to keep your lawn green and spend time
with the kids at the same time. One way to do
both is to allow your mini gardeners to help out.
Lessons for them to learn:
*Explain the effect water has on all living
creatures.
*If you see spots in the grass that are brown or
dry, instruct your child to water those particular
sections and watch them be amazed as the
weeks go by and those spots begin to turn
green.
*Help them identify different plants and insects
they might discover.
Added benefit:
If you want to sneak some exercise in, try
marching in place or doing some lunges or deep
knee bends while you supervise them.
(Always consult with your doctor before engaging in any new exercise
program)
